“The restaurant is located in a basement, but once inside it feels cozy and nicely decorated. The atmosphere is pleasant, the music is good, and the staff were genuinely friendly. We ordered two chicken tonkatsu curries and an additional deal with chicken karaage and two beers. The curry tasted homemade and didn’t rely on the typical Japanese curry blocks, which was a nice change. Unfortunately, it was extremely salty. Japanese food can be on the saltier side, but this went far beyond that and felt clearly over-seasoned. The chicken karaage was also disappointing. Flavor-wise it was okay, but there was far too much batter, with some pieces thick and doughy on the inside. It was also very salty, just like the curry. The broccoli on the side was basic and forgettable. After the meal, both of us felt uncomfortably thirsty, making it clear that the saltiness wasn’t a one-off issue. It’s a shame, because the setting and service are great. With better seasoning control, this place could be much better, but as it stands, it’s a three-star experience.”
“Excellent sashimi. The curry pork katsu was good but a bit salty. I loved the sake pour. The tempura was also tasty. They use QR codes to order, but they don't have WiFi, which seemed odd to me as a traveler. No problem though as they did take our order the human way.”
“I had the daily special ($16.50) and the whole squid ($22). The daily special was sauce chicken katsudon, which usually costs $19. The chicken was amazing, very fresh and crunchy on the outside, and super soft and tender on the inside. The whole squid however was disappointing, it was pretty tough. I feel that with the quality of the chicken, the squid might have just been a one off, and I'd love to come here again as it was a nice place :). You order through a qr code.”
